The Emmys will eliminate DVD screeners for the 2020 awards, the Television Academy announced on Friday.

The move makes the Emmys the first major awards show to do away with the screener DVDs that have become ubiquitous during both Emmy and Oscar season over the past two decades. Song You Need to Know: Crudo Means Raw, ‘Maria’

Last year, Crudo Means Raw reached Number One on Spotify’s viral chart in Colombia with “La Mitad De La Mitad.” The track’s appeal was immediate — a slippery, live-sounding bass line rubbed against sharp, terse raps — and widespread: When Crudo Means Raw posted a screenshot of Spotify’s chart on Instagram, J Balvin was among those offering congratulations in the comments, writing “Felicidades Fercho!”

Crudo Means Raw’s newest single, “Maria,” is even better than the last one. Like “La Mitad De La Mitad, “Maria” revolves around a fluid,

Farruko Aims for Radio Domination With ‘Nadie’

“Nadie,” the new single from Puerto Rican rapper-singer Farruko, is a shrewd bid for commercial success. The track relies on the same streamlined pulse that elevated Anuel AA’s “Ella Quiere Beber” and Bad Bunny’s “Mia,” both major hits at Latin radio in the U.S. Programmers looking for a smooth transition into something new will find plenty to like in “Nadie:” an airy melody composed of a few blobs of synthesizer and a light, skipping beat.

After pivoting to embrace the rising Latin trap movement on his 2017 album

Berlin: Edko Films Picks up Zhang Yimou’s ‘One Second’

Hong Kong studio Edko Films has picked up international rights to “One Second,” the newest movie by top Chinese director Zhang Yimou. The film will have its world premiere in competition in Berlin, it was announced this week.

“One Second” is pitched as Zhang’s personal love letter to cinema, and as a return to his auteur roots after a string of big-budget films including “The Great Wall,” and the recent “Shadow.” The story evolves from the moment when an enigmatic film reel spawns an unlikely friendship between a fugitive and a homeless girl.

The film stars Zhang Yi (“Operation Red Sea”) and Fan Wei (“I Am Not Madame Bovary”). It was shot in remote mountainous locations in mid-summer last year, between the end of production on “Shadow” and that film’s triumphant Venice and Toronto outings.

Shadow” was produced by Perfect Village, a joint venture between Chinese games to

Claudia Boderke, Lars Mering Talk Sf Studios ‘The New Nurses,’

The inevitable comparison for Sf Studios’ “The New Nurses,” at least from a Danish broadcast perspective, is “Something’s Rockin,’” another 2018 TV 2 Charlie show which was retro but forward-looking. “Something’s Rockin’” described the birth of an independent radio with culture in Denmark.

Produced by Sf Studios’ Senia Dremstrup (“Norskov”), “The New Nurses” talks cleverly about gender equality by flipping the focus to men battling a conservative establishment to become Denmark’s first nurses. This will make the lack of equality seem even more arcane to even more people.

In another reset, reverting classic telenovela, you have a working class man in love with an upper-class girl. Erik, a soldier who fought in WWII, attempts to sign up for Denmark’s first nursing school which accepts male nurses. A working class lad without even the money to pay for the basic text books, he faces a battle with nit only entrenched authorities at the hospital,

How a Production Designer Created 'Isle of Dogs'' Miniature World and 'Ready Player One's' Massive Vr Dystopia

How a Production Designer Created 'Isle of Dogs'' Miniature World and 'Ready Player One's' Massive Vr Dystopia
Between the two films for which he's nominated for Art Directors Guild Awards, production designer Adam Stockhausen undertook a sort of real-life Gulliver's Travels. First, he began work on Wes Anderson's stop-motion animated Isle of Dogs as if visiting a small-scale Lilliputian world, since the sets were effectively all miniatures designed for puppet replicas of assorted canines and humans. Then he moved to Steven Spielberg's fantasy epic Ready Player One, in which he entered the large-scale Brobidingagian world, encompassing both a dystopian Columbus, Ohio, where inhabitants live in "the stacks," and the virtual reality world of the video game,...
